Chapter 23
Maya
"If your client has an interest in seeing the property for himself, I can arrange that at a time that's most convenient for him."
Todd, the man who arrived for a private showing an hour ago, turns to look at me. He's been standing in the dining area for more than ten minutes, pecking away at his phone.
When he emailed me early this morning to arrange a showing, I was still in bed with Julian. He explained in his message that he's a representative of a buyer who wishes to remain anonymous. It's not uncommon when a property of this value is up for sale.
Many wealthy people want to keep their names and faces out of the financial papers. There's an inherent understanding at Carvel that when this penthouse sells, we'll be screaming about it from the rooftops.
I glance down at my watch. I have another showing in an hour. That one is at Charles Warton Sr.'s apartment. I've been actively promoting that property on my social media pages along with this one.
Interest for the Warton property hasn't been as high but the woman meeting me today is excited. I have a good feeling about her and I don't want to keep her waiting.
"He might actually want to see this place." He holds his phone in the air. "I've been texting pictures to him and he's impressed."
I hope he's impressed enough to make an offer. My time is running out to sell this place before it's handed over to another broker. I need the deal which is why I have Jen calling every person who has viewed the penthouse to get a sense of their interest in it.
"Do you want to set up a time for that showing now?" I tug my cell out of my pants pocket.
I didn't have a lot of time to get ready for work. There was a broker's meeting at the office at nine a.m. so after I left Julian's place, I'd raced home to shower and threw on a pair of navy slacks and a light blue sweater. It's not my idea of the picture perfect business attire, but it's sufficient in a pinch.
"Let me give him a call and I'll find out."
I walk away because I know this man values his privacy. I haven't been able to place whether he's a lawyer or just an assistant hired to handle the initial viewings of properties his boss is interested in.
I take advantage of the time to sneak a peek at my messages. I scroll through them until I spot one from Julian.
You threw the rule book out last night so let's go on an official date. Pizza at seven?
I smile as I read the words. I start to type out a response telling him that I'll meet him anywhere for pizza.
"My client has a window from seven to seven-thirty tonight. Does that work?" Todd asks from where he's standing across the room.
I lower my phone and flash him a genuine smile. "Seven tonight is perfect.
